Dr. Philip Haros

Dr. Haros is a Virginia native but received his veterinary education down under from the University of Melbourne in Australia. Unfortunately, his degree did not come with an accent. He also completed four months of education in Saskatoon, Canada – in the dead of winter when the average temperature was -50 degrees F.  Despite almost perishing, he returned to the USA where he now  practices veterinary medicine full-time in a small animal clinic.

Dr. Haros is partnered with Codapet, a California based veterinary service, through which he offers at home euthanasia locally. Additionally, he performs relief work at local urgent care and vaccine clinics when he’s got energy to spare. Finally, he recently added veterinary blogging to his list of endeavors.

Vetsplain was created out of an love for educating people on veterinary medicine and an enjoyment for writing. Our goal is to provide relevant and up to date veterinary information for pet parents and pet professionals in a fun, concise and well-researched manner. We touch just enough on the science.

Dr. Haros also owns a 5 year old Bernese mountain dog named Ovi and a 1 year old bernedoodle named Oni. They are mentioned often in our posts and frequently make appearances on social media, which can be visited by using the links at the top of the page. We hope you enjoy your time here!
